Its name was inspired by the French word applique which literally translates as decorative embroidery on some fabric while metaphorically it is the lights that touch directly on the wall.

The wood used is plywood and is waterproof. Is treated with an impregnating varnish to give it a shine and to protect against micro-organisms.
